The Origins of the Donut Tour

The Underground Donut Tour started in Chicago back in 2015 as a fun side gig dreamed up by Jeff Woelker. What began as a local donut adventure quickly turned into a worldwide sensation thanks to people’s love for donuts and the buzz from happy donut lovers everywhere. Now, with tours in more than 20 cities across the US, Canada, Ireland, and the UK, the Underground Donut Tour is rolling strong as one of the tastiest food tours out there!

What’s the secret? It’s simple: donuts bring people together. Each tour is all about sharing the sweet joy of donuts in a laid-back, fun atmosphere. You’ll munch on incredible treats, uncover some quirky history, learn cool donut facts, and meet fellow donut fans. It’s a mix of flavor, fun, and community that keeps everyone coming back for more.

The History of our Logo

Starting in 2025, we've updated our logo to better reflect the experience that our guests have on our tour, which is to say fun, family friendly and unexpected. This was also done to reflect our more global footprint.

Our original logo, was created in 2015 when we had one guide in one city, specifically Chicago. As of January 2025, we now operate in more than 20 cities, with 30+ routes across 4 different countries and we wanted our logo to better reflect that. The new logo has a nod to our heritage, the 6 pointed star in the Chicago flag, but the rest of the logo was updated to include custom typography, a bigger focus on donuts and overall reflects a more fun look and feel for our brand. You'll see it reflected throughout our site as well.
